In the television universe, networks care most about how their shows perform among viewers aged 18-49. Why? That's who compels advertisers to write the big checks. The rating measures the percentage of people in this age group who tuned into the original broadcast. For instance, SCANDAL premiered to a 2.0 rating, meaning two percent of 18-49-year-olds watched it live. These numbers are estimated based on 25,000 viewers who have Nielsen boxes in their homes.
The chart below includes the 18-49 ratings for SCANDAL since its first episode (#101). Its ratings have grown steadily since the #WhoShotFitz story arc began on December 6, 2012 (#208). It hit a series high of 2.8 on January 10, 2013 (#210).
