10 Points to Ponder for the SCANDAL Season Finale

As I was writing this post, I found out that one-half of my original obsession passed away: Chris Kelly (a.k.a. Mac Daddy) of the 90s Hip-Hop group Kris Kross. He was only 34 years old. In remembrance of him, here’s the video of their biggest hit, “Jump.”

SCANDAL Wins Big at NAACP Image Awards!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of SCANDAL! They won big at last week’s NAACP Image Awards. The show picked up an award for Outstanding Drama Series, and leading lady Kerry Washington won for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. She also grabbed a statue for her supporting role in Django Unchained, as well as the coveted President’s Award that recognizes excellence in public service. She must be having the best year ever!

Olivia Is Nobody's Sally

Chattel (noun):  1. A movable article of personal property, 2. Any article of tangible property other than land, buildings, and other things annexed to land, 3. A slave.

As SCANDAL’s audience has grown so has the critical commentary. I was hesitant to write this post, not because I think the subject matter is unimportant, but because I don’t feel the need to defend the show or its writers and producers. However, something about the tone of this debate bothers me.

SCANDAL Between the Lines: When Livvy Met Abby

This is my imagining of Olivia's and Abby's first encounter. I based it on their character bios at and what we've seen on the show so far. This is purely fan fiction. There's no copyright infringement happening around these parts. Hear that, ABC? Enjoy!

She approached his office slowly, steadying her thoughts and composure as though she was preparing to testify before Congress. She opened the door as she knocked.

"Good afternoon, Professor Beene. I take your morning Legal Ethics course. I'm here to discuss fixing my grade."

"Uh, hello, Miss...?"

"Pope," she replied with a stern confidence. "Olivia Pope."

"Ah, yes. Miss Pope. Refresh my memory about your issue?"
